Ink refill

Filed under: Printer — IT Blog @ 9:21 pm

This article “Inkjet Refill Process” is for newbie who has no experience on ink refill.

The process of refilling inkjet cartridges is simple; though, there are a few important steps to remember before beginning. It is wise to perform the refilling process on a protected surface (covered in newspapers) to avoid damage to furniture through spillage of ink. To avoid mixing colors during the procedure it is important to make sure that all syringes are cleaned, and that the proper color is used with the corresponding inkjet cartridge. If there is a difference in the colors from those mentioned in the supplied instruction manual, please be sure to fill the chambers in each inkjet cartridge with the appropriate color.

Steps

To begin the inkjet refilling process, please remove all empty cartridges from your printer. Firmly attach a piece of tape to the bottom of each cartridge making sure that the “ink exit holes” are properly covered. The “filling holes” are located on the upper side of the ink cartridge. They can be found underneath the label.

• Use the tool provided in the kit to punch through and expose the recessed inkjet refill holes. Note: some cartridge sets have ball bearings instead. If this is the case, please push the bearing through the hole into the cartridge.

• Fill the provided syringe with the appropriate color of ink.

• Push it into the filling hole of the cartridge as far as it will go (making sure the tip has almost reached the bottom of the cartridge).

• Slowly inject the ink into the cartridge while withdrawing the needle from the refilling hole.

• It is time to stop when ink becomes visible at the top of the hole. Note: remove a small amount of ink from the cartridge so it is not flush with the top of the opening.

• Do not reseal the filling holes.

• Remove the tape from the ink exit holes, and return the newly filled cartridges to the printer making sure to run 1-3 cleaning cycles, and print head alignment tools.

• If you have a cartridge with a smart chip, it is important to reset the printer chip to ensure they function properly. This can be done with an Epson chip resetter.

It is important to remember:

• When ink cartridges are empty they must be stored in an airtight bag with a damp cloth to prevent the ink distribution sponges from drying out.

• Cartridges cannot be refilled forever. For best results it is recommended to change your printer cartridges after every 5 refills.

• Be sure to avoid touching metal contacts on each cartridge when handling them. Static charges and can damage cartridges rendering them useless.

A recent grad from Concordia University’s English Department, Marisa uses her computer technology skills along side her writing skills to be the webmaster for The Print Pot, http://www.printpot.com/. Sharing her interest and expertise about ink jet refill kits has helped convince many of the advantages of refilling rather than discarding empty cartridges.

Printing digital photos on your budget

Filed under: Printer — IT Blog @ 9:33 pm

Good article “Digital Photos: Printing on a Budget” By Laurie McArthur will give you an idea to get cheap printing on your budget.

We are a two printer family. Yes, we have the “good printer” and the “little printer.” The “little printer” is the budget printer and the subject of this article. Anything that’s not critical as regards archival permanence gets printed in the “little printer.”

While the good printer is for archival, arty work, we bought the “little printer” for run of the mill printing such as e-mails, small family photos, birthday cards for the grandchildren and the like.

Choosing a Budget Printer
The “little printer” is an Epson Stylus C45 and prints up to A4 size in full colour. It has two ink cartridges: a black cartridge and a three colour cartridge.

My wife sent me up to the post office to get it about six months ago for $79; Australian dollars, that is. Now they’ve come down in price to $59.

Other manufacturers market their own budget priced printers. Have a look around and you’ll find one to meet your budget.

The reproduction of colour and detail is excellent. What more could you ask for in a budget printer?

Lifespan of a Budget Printer
Now, I don’t expect a budget printer to have an enduring lifespan. In a commercial print shop I suppose a week would see it out. But with the amount of work it will get at our place it’s reasonable to expect to get years of trouble free budget printing out of it.

Slow Printing
The only downside that I can see is that printing a top quality colour photo is slow. A digital photo printed at A4 size at top quality, takes about 20 minutes. But that’s fine if budget is the key word and time is on your side. The important thing is your ability to produce quality, budget, colour photos at home. Of course, you won’t be printing A4 all the time.

Ink Cartridge Refilling Process
I make a major saving by refilling my ink cartridges with after market (non genuine) ink. This involves removing some ink from the various coloured ink bottles with a syringe and injecting it into the correct ink tank in the ink cartridge.

The refilling process should not be a messy business provided you take suitable precautions. I put some newspaper on the kitchen table for the refilling process. Between each colour, I wash the syringe in a trickle of water, in a jam jar lid, in the laundry tub.

Obstacles to Ink Cartridge Refilling
In the case of Epson, the manufacturer has tried to beat aftermarket ink producers by designing a chip into the cartridge to tell the printer that an empty cartridge is empty. However, not to be thwarted, the aftermarket ink manufacturer has produced a chip reseter to reset the chip to tell the printer that the refilled ink cartridge is full.

The chip reseter is a small computer type gadget, housed in a plastic case and a little bigger than a matchbox. You simply press the ink cartridge against the pins on the chip reseter, a red light flashes and your refilled ink cartridge is ready to go again; as good as new for a small part of the price of a new ink cartridge. Of course, it’s a bit time consuming, but that’s how it is with budget systems, isn’t it?

With other brands of printer it’s much more straightforward. Just whip the empty cartridge out, refill it, put it back in, tell the printer it’s got a full ink cartridge and away you go.

Budget Photo Printing Paper
By looking around Ebay for budget priced photo printing paper, I’ve also kept this expense well within the budget requirements for run of the mill digital photo printing jobs.

Archival Permanence
Although the manufacturers of both the budget ink and the budget printing paper assure me that their products are of a high standard, I would not trust an image requiring archival permanence to my budget printing system. Of course, it may be quite OK. I have no way of knowing.

Warranty
I’ve had no print head problems with the budget ink, but the possibility exists that you could clog the print head and void your warranty at the same time. I work it out this way:

They sell the printers cheap and make their money on the ink and paper. A black and a colour cartridge cost about a third to a half the cost of a new printer. Bundled with the new printer is a pair of cartridges. If I need to buy a new printer every fifth ink cartridge refill, I’ll be in front. But I’m doing better than that.

All on a Budget
Following this budget digital photo printing regime you can be one of those families or singles with photos on the fridge, photos on the TV, photos on the microwave, photos everywhere, all on a budget.

afree spyware blocker

Filed under: Spyware — IT Blog @ 8:13 pm

For good article of afree spyware blocker, Jason Frovich had wrote the article ”How to protect your privacy with a Spyware blocker and remover” you may find how interesting of his article.

A spyware blocker and remover will protect your computer in two different ways. Firstly, there is the real-time protection which blocks all attempts to install spyware. The second function involves scanning your entire computer and removing all existing Spyware. Basic Anti-Spyware programs will sometimes only be able to perform the second function; scanning and removing of Spyware, since this is much easier than blocking Spyware in real-time. You should therefore look for a Spyware blocker and remover when you choose an Anti-Spyware program, since such programs offers more protection than the basic scanning programs. A program of this type will work in a way similar to that of an Anti-Virus program. The Spyware blocker and remover will carefully check all incoming network data and disk files during the actual download. All components known to be Spyware are immediately blocked by the Program. Some Spyware blocker and remover programs will also block attempts to modify the settings of your browser and all attempts to install start-up items. Unlike a Spyware blocker and remover, a simple Spyware remover is easier to construct since it only has to check the contents of the Windows Registry, the installed programs and the operating system files and remove Spyware when found. A high-quality Spyware blocker and remover will therefore keep your computer and your privacy much safer, since Spyware will be blocked “at the gate”.

In the beginning, most Anti-Spyware programs were focused on finding existing Spyware in the computer and removing them. As the Spyware problem grew, a better type of Anti-virus program was developed by several companies; the Spyware blocker and remover.

One of the first programs of this type was developed by Javacool Software and named SpywareBlaster. It offered real-time protection and was focused on blocking ActiveX-based Spyware, but also capable of noticing and blocking a lot of other types of Spyware as well. It was however focused on the real-time protection, and not on scanning and removing existing files. Later on, other Spyware blocker and remover programs were introduced; programs that combined the blocking and removing functions more effectively. Examples of such Spyware blocker and remover programs are Windows AntiSpyware and Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.

For most users, it is recommended to choose Spyware blocker and remover programs instead of Anti-Spyware programs capable of just one task. Even with a good Spyware blocker and remover program you are however not completely out of harms way. If a Spyware blocker and remover program fails to block a Spyware program, the Spyware can sometimes resist later attempts to delete or uninstall it. Some cleverly created Spyware programs work in pairs. When the Spyware blocker and remover program finds one of the programs and terminate its actions, the other Spyware program will promptly start up the program again. Other Spyware programs are designed to notice attempts to remove Registry keys and can rapidly add the Registry keys again. If you experience such problems with your program, you can try booting your computer in safe mode. This will usually give your Spyware blocker and remover program a better chance of finally getting rid of unrelenting Spyware.

Save ton of money from ink or toner

Filed under: Printer — IT Blog @ 9:01 pm

Here is a good article Beat the Printer Scheme and Save a Ton of Money on Ink or Toner  by By David Picella

Before you buy another printer, make sure you read this article. The printing manufacturers actually don’t make any money on the printer itself. Instead, the real profits are made on the ink and toner. In general, the cheaper the printer, the more you will get gouged when it comes to replacing cartridges. But this is not always the case. The high end printer manufacturers are ready and willing to jump deep into your pocketbook. And if you let them, they will stay there for very long time.

The Microchip Scheme

The primary way in which the printing companies gouge your pocketbook is by placing a small microchip on the ink or toner cartridge. The cartridge will stop working when you print a fixed number of pages (usually around 5,000) even if you have plenty of supply remaining. Sometimes the chips are also programmed to stop working after a fixed period of time (e.g., six months) regardless of how many pages you have printed. The chips are usually patented so as to guarantee that you will always buy a new cartridge from the original manufacturer.

Just to illustrate how costly it can be to buy the wrong printer, here is a personal example. I fell for HP’s marketing scheme and bought a “low cost” HP 1500 Color Laser Jet two years ago for $499.00. I just checked with Staples.com and the cost of replacing all the toner cartridges and drum including tax (free shipping) is $597.33.

Is there a way around this?

Yes! If you do not have a chip on the cartridge then you can simply look on the internet and find a refill kit. This will work quite well. However, as a general rule, printing quality will decrease after approximately five refills.

If you have a microchip on your cartridge, there are a couple of options. First, with many cartridges you will be able to find a “chip reset” kit on the internet. Buying ink or toner and a chip reset kit is usually much cheaper than replacing the cartridge. You will be able to use the reset kit over and over again, so it will pay for itself. If you can’t find a reset kit for your cartridge, you can probably find a replacement chip. The microchips are usually glued on the side of the cartridge, so you can just pry off the old chip and glue on a new one.

The “Nuclear Option”

I saved the best for last! If this works, it is your best option, but you might have to do a little bit of internet research on your specific printer. What the printing companies don’t want you to know is that there is usually a way to configure your printer such that you are able to reset the chip memory. In some cases, you can completely disable the printer’s use of the chip. Getting back to my HP 1500 Color LaserJet, I was able to do this by holding down the big green button for 20 seconds when the power is turned on. On this printer, this causes what is known as a “hard reset” of all internal memory settings. Whereas I should have been forced to replace all of my toner and the drum, I have now been printing for months in normal operation without a glitch and with no error messages!

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that you will be able reset, replace, or bypass the microchip on your printer’s cartridge. Every year, it seems that the printer manufacturers become more and more skilled at preventing you from taking charge of your machine. However, now you are armed with a little bit of knowledge—and knowledge is power. The next time your printer runs out of ink or toner, don’t be so eager to go out and buy a new cartridge. Remember, if there is a way around it, you can find it! The personal satisfaction you get in saving money and beating them at their own game will put a little bit of excitement in what might have been a depressing and costly situation.

Inkjet Supplies

Filed under: Printer — IT Blog @ 11:16 pm
Technorati Tags: ,

Below, you’ll find extensive good information on leading inkjet supplies articles and products to help you on your way to success.

How To Get The Best Deals On Your Inkjet Supplies
By Frank Bolsom
Whether surfing the Internet or visiting your local computer shop, you will encounter a wide range of colorful inkjet supplies to choose from. Inkjet printers are quite popular, offering an inexpensive, reliable way to complete print jobs in the comfort of your own home or small office. Typical inkjets use a basic color cartridge to provide prints through a yellow, cyan and magenta color scheme. A separate black cartridge is also used. While ink is one of the most needed inkjet supply parts requiring constant replacement, there are additional supplies necessary to make sure you can properly use your printer.

Color Cartridges

Depending on the type of printer you own, you may use an all-inclusive color cartridge to create prints. High-end models often take separate ink cartridges for each color, which makes for easier replacement (one-at-a-time). When choosing color cartridges, always make sure you are choosing the correct model. Trying to place incorrect cartridges into your printer may damage it. Also, take notice that certain photo-quality printers will require additional cartridges that offer a wider range of ink colors.

Paper

Paper is another one of those important printer supplies you need to complete a job. Some of the types of printer paper on the market include copy, premium, glossy and semi-gloss. Additional paper options come perforated for the creation of business cards. There are also special papers, such as transfers to create T-shirts and adhesive selections that can be used to print graphics for stickers.

Replacement Parts

Knowing the kind of cable and connector used to attach your printer to the computer will make replacing these parts much easier. This information can be found in your printer manual or when visiting a store, you may take the old cable or connector with you. There are two main types of connectivity to consider: USB connections and printer ports. Optional parts to select for your printer also depend on the model. Some printers accept flash card readers or media sticks, while others use USB gadgets to connect digital cameras to your printing apparatus.

Maintenance Supplies

There are cleaning solutions on the market that aim to keep your printer in top working condition. Often, a clear fluid can be purchased, which is used to clean or flush out clogged ink. For stubborn jobs, the printer may take overnight

treatment and might not be ready for use until days later after the cleaning solution has settled in to work its magic. Sometimes, cleaning fluid can also be used to dilute existing ink to create lighter shades.

Selecting the Right Supply Models

When purchasing inkjet supplies, you must know the make and model of your machine, which is essential for successfully selecting the correct match for your printer. Surely, you can’t outfit an HP 2110v inkjet printer with ink cartridges made for an Epson. Checking your make and model is quite easy. This information is visibly displayed on your inkjet printer. An even better resource to turn to is the printer manual. All of the information you need to know is conveniently situated in one place. This also comes in handy when replacing parts you are unfamiliar with, such as printer connection cables.

How To Save Money On Inkjet Supplies

There are plenty of ways to take advantage of a discount on inkjet supplies. One of the best markets for comparison-shopping and finding the greatest deals is the Internet. Thousands of companies across the world are vying for your business and they will slash prices, hoping to attract you to their site. You may encounter “Buy 1, Get 1 Free” bonuses, as well as tons of 50% off an assortment of printer inks.

Sometimes, the manufacturer of your inkjet printer may offer a few deals from time-to-time, such as discounted color and black/white ink combos. Visiting their main website will alert you to deals, while signing up for an email newsletter will also keep you on top of the inkjet supply bargains.

When it comes to ink, many consumers are saving money by purchasing do-it-yourself refill kits. Although, more involvement and procedure is involved than simply inserting an ink cartridge, it is still a great way to cut costs on inkjet supplies.

Free spyware and adware remover

For afree spyware and adware remover , the article by By Milos Pesic

Computers need routine maintenance as well as systems checks in order to be in good condition at all times. This can be done by getting the proper software or sending the unit to the shop.

If the individual notices that the computer is not performing as well as before, proper action must be done immediately before everything shuts down. Aside from the potential threat of a virus that can destroy the operating system and the hard drive, another concern should be the spyware and the adware that comes when a website is visited.

Spyware and adware programs can be purchased in the store. With the development of e-commerce, software companies have made it possible to get these things online and have it downloaded in an instant onto the computer.

Is there one software program better than the other? Some will say this brand while others will say another depending on how user-friendly and effective it has performed in the past. Here are the top 5 that are free to use so you be the judge.

1. McAfee has been in the business of providing security solutions since 1987. The software programs it offers can take care of viruses, spyware, adware and any other threats all in just one package.

Among the different software companies in the industry, this firm does not allow free trials but those who have used it and are still doing so today are satisfied with its products and services.

2. Another leader in the industry is Symantec. This company offers its customers various versions of its products. Those who are skeptic about the adware and spyware software it has can download the software and try it for 30 days. The satisfied ones can then buy the program to continue enjoying its services.

3. Microsoft is one of the biggest software companies in the world. Aside from offering its customer’s operating systems, it also has adware spyware remover, which can be downloaded for free.

4. The fourth company on the list is not as big as the other three players but is still able to hold its head up high in the market. The program is called Spybot Search and Destroy. From the name itself, the individual can already tell what it can do as . In addition to disinfecting your system, it can prevent new threats from popping up in the future.

5. Lastly, there is Adaware, which also has various versions for personal and commercial use. Those who will just use it to keep the computer safe at home can download the adware spyware remover program for free. If used by a company to protect its assets, a fee will be charged to keep the system running.

The person does not have to be a computer expert to be able to protect everything inside the computer because there are adware spyware remover programs available.

Once it is downloaded and installed, the individual does not have to worry because the software will check the computer carefully as well as receive updates so new threats can be caught before it can do any damage making one sleep peacefully at night. It is up to the customer whether to pay for the system or simply get one that is free.

The Portable Printer

Good printer article : ”The portable printer“ By Michelle Bery

Let’s face it, we’re a society on the go. We have cell phones clipped around our ears, email in our pockets, and our schedule at our fingertips at all times. So it stands to reason that more and more pieces of equipment that were traditionally relegated to the office are now being designed to come along with us. One such piece of equipment is the portable printer.

Streamlined for efficiency and designed to be as compact as possible, the portable printer goes where you go, giving you the immediate ability to print important documents that just can’t wait – no matter where you are at the time. Of course, the largest benefit of the portable printer is to the business traveler who can print documents via their laptop anywhere from the airplane to a hotel room; the convenience is priceless for the traveler who must maximize the use of their time.

And, while it packs a punch when it comes to efficiency and functionality, the portable printer, on average, is less than five pounds, making it easy and comfortable to transport in a briefcase or pocketbook. A large percentage does not even require an electric power source and, instead, operate on batteries.

When looking for a portable printer you can shop brand, size, capabilities, and price. Most of the large computer manufacturers make a portable printer design so you can rest assured that you’ll be getting a reliable, quality product. The functions that the portable printer performs vary by model and are largely confined to printing volume and speed. Of course, in general, the printing volume capability of the portable printer will directly impact its weight and size; so choose accordingly. These may also be the more expensive of the models, but if you are relying on your portable printer to produce multiple copies with a professional look, then it’s certainly worth paying the price.

The portable printer – like many items hitting the market today – is simply indicative of the ever-growing trend of convenience products that promise to revolutionize the traditional work environment.

Save Money On Printer Ink

Filed under: Printer — IT Blog @ 9:49 pm

Good article “Save Money Of Printer Ink” By Oliver Turner

Read it through and you will find how interesting of the article

Printer ink is very expensive and due to this the cost of running a printer is also very high. However, it is possible to save money on printer ink if you know what are the things to consider and where to buy.

The best way to save money on printer ink is to buy remanufactured cartridges or compatible cartridges for your printer rather than buying expensive OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) cartridges. Remanufactured cartridges are recycled OEM cartridges. Empty cartridges are professionally refilled by experts and then put up for sale. Compatible cartridges are third-party cartridges manufactured by companies who make cartridges for various printer types. Refilling your printer cartridge with a refill kit is also a good way of saving money. Refilling is the cheapest of all the options available.

Buying online can also save money on printer ink. Online sellers offer discounts and it will be easy to compare prices of various dealers and choose the best price. You will also be able to save on traveling and shipping expenses. Many sellers offer free shipping facilities on their products.

Having an extra cartridge at home will help save money on printer ink. If your printer suddenly runs out of ink, you don’t have to go to the retail printer store and buy printer ink at a considerably higher price. If the number of printouts from your printer is too high then is it best to buy cartridges in bulk. Dealers will give huge discounts if you purchase in bulk. Bulk purchases are suitable for offices and large set-ups.

As printer inks are very expensive, the best way to save money on printer ink is to use it economically. Plan and print. Often people take printouts simply to realize later that it is not required. Take printouts of only those documents that are necessary.
